THE HISTORY OF TOM JONES, A FOUNDLING by Henry Fielding (unabridged) is presented by Blackstone Audio and comes with what is perhaps the best audiobook app available (see FEATURES, below).

"Two hundred years have not dimmed Fieldings realism. His humor is closer to our own than that of any writer before the present century." (Kingsley Amis)

A foundling brought up by the benevolent Squire Allworthy, Tom Jones falls in love with the beautiful but unattainable Sophia Western. Banished for his sexual escapades, Tom sets out for London to make his fortune, where he encounters many misadventures before finding his true identity and true love.

Self-contained, this audiobook app is perfect for your commute, on a trip, or while relaxing. Based on a library-quality recording, this app was built especially for your iPhone and iPod Touch. No unreadable text, no endless scrolling on a tiny screen. The audio is of higher-than-normal quality, making for a great listening experience that will not tire your ears or grate on your nerves.

NOTICE: This app includes the exact same 5-star recording offered elsewhere at much higher prices. It was professionally recorded by Blackstone Audio’s narrator Ken Danziger. You are not buying yet another amateur or volunteer narration. No clicks, background noises, throat clearing, mispronunciations, tinny voices or monotones will be found here.

"Nearly two and a half centuries after its publication, the adventures of the rambunctious and randy Tom Jones still makes for great reading. Im not in the habit of using words like bawdy or rollicking, but if you look them up in the dictionary, you should see a picture of this book." (Amazon.com)

Squire Allworthy suspects that the infant whom he adopts and names Tom Jones is the illegitimate child of his servant Jenny Jones. When Tom is a young man, he falls in love with Sophia Western, his beautiful and virtuous neighbor. In the end his true identity is revealed and he wins Sophias hand, but numerous obstacles have to be overcome, and in the course of the action the various sets of characters pursue each other from one part of the country to another, giving Fielding an opportunity to paint an incomparably vivid picture of England in the mid-18th century.
